Temperature Sensors
Temperature Measurement with Thermocouples & RTDs
In industrial process control, accurate temperature measurement is critical. At KECO Engineered Controls, we provide high-quality Thermocouples and RTDs (Resistive Temperature Devices), the two most widely used solutions for monitoring temperature across a variety of applications. Whether you need durability in extreme conditions or high-precision readings, we have the right temperature sensor for your needs.

Understanding Thermocouples
Versatile, High-Temperature Performance
Thermocouples operate on a simple yet effective principle: when two dissimilar metals such as Chromel and Alumel in a Type K thermocouple meet at a junction, they generate a voltage corresponding to temperature changes.
Key Features of Thermocouples:
- Wide operating range: -200°C (-328°F) to 2320°C (4200°F)
- Available in various designs: probes, thin-film sensors, infrared measurement
- Ideal for high-temperature and high-vibration environments
- Cost-effective solution for many industrial processes
Understanding RTDs

Superior Accuracy & Stability
Unlike thermocouples, RTDs measure temperature through electrical resistance, which increases as temperature rises. Encased in protective stainless steel sheaths, these sensors offer long-lasting performance in demanding conditions.
Key Features of RTDs:
- Precision accuracy with margins as tight as 0.1°C
- Optimal performance in lower temperature ranges: -196°C (-321°F) to 600°C (1112°F)
- Superior repeatability, stability, and sensitivity
- Best for applications requiring high-resolution temperature readings
